Program

CNY SHRM is pleased to present a follow-up to the popular supervisor and manager compliance training conducting last September!  In September 2014, over 100 supervisors, managers and HR professionals learned the basics of employment law in the areas of discrimination and harassment, wage and hour, and performance management.  For part two, labor and employment attorneys Katie Schafer and Kerry Langan of Bond, Schoeneck & King will continue the discussion and cover the following topics:

  • Managing employee attendance issues, including the challenges of FMLA intermittent leave
  • Making employee discipline and discharge decisions, including the do’s and don’ts of investigations and documentation
  • How the National Labor Relations Act impacts the workplace (even non-union workplaces), and how supervisors can avoid violating their employees’ many rights under that law

This session will teach more of the basics every supervisor and manager must know to avoid unknowingly exposing the employer to liability.  It is engineered to provide practical advice on the day-to-day issues supervisors and managers face most.  The program is not cumulative, so attendees need not have attended in September to benefit.  Additionally, it will cover entirely new topics, so those who attended in September should plan to attend again!
