Navigating Hiring: Basics, Best Practices, and the Use of AI

Presented by: Hannah K. Redmond and Kali Schreiner

Join Bond, Schoeneck, and King attorneys, Hannah Redmond and Kali Schreiner as they
present best practices for effective hiring in an ever-changing legal environment.  In this
presentation, we will focus on compliance with employment laws and avoiding common
pitfalls in hiring.  We will discuss the use of background checks, pre-employment inquiries,
the integration of artificial intelligence in the hiring process, and more.

Hannah K. Redmond

Hannah is a management side labor and employment attorney representing employers in
all phases of the employment cycle – from hiring through separation, and beyond.  Hannah
works with public and private sector employers across a broad range of industries.
Hannah regularly defends employers against claims of discrimination, retaliation and
harassment in state and federal court, and in administrative proceedings before the Equal
Employment Opportunity Commission and various state agencies such as the New York
State Division of Human Rights.

Working closely with management, Hannah counsels on a wide variety of matters, such as
discrimination, retaliation and harassment; workplace investigations; compliance with wage
and hour laws; navigating various leave issues; disability and religious accommodations;
and employee handbook and policy review.
Hannah also focuses her practice on traditional labor matters, counseling and representing
employers with unionized workforces.  Hannah represents employers before the National
Labor Relations Board and in labor arbitrations.  She also assists clients with labor contract
negotiations.

Kali R. Schreiner

Kali assists clients in a wide range of labor and employment matters, including counseling
clients on employment related matters, defending employers in various phases of litigation
and conducting policy and handbook reviews.
Prior to joining Bond, Kali was an attorney at a boutique litigation firm where she assisted
healthcare clients in a variety of litigation matters and developed strategies to optimize
client outcomes. Prior to that, she had several intern and externships, including with the
Hon. Therese Wiley Dancks, U.S., Magistrate Judge and the Office of General Counsel for
SUNY Upstate University.
